He was born to Mathais and Keneygunda Wolf in Linton, N.D. John grew up in Napoleon, N.D., and moved to Seattle in 1967 with his wife Karen and three children. He was a business owner for 18 years and a member of the Western Washington Dance Club. He was also active with the Lions, Eagles, Elks and Kiwanis clubs. John and his family found Faith Evangelical Free Church in Dallas to be their church home in 1994. Dallas had been their home for more than 16 years. He continued working in the restaurant industry at Howie's Lounge & Scooters Diner, where he made a name for himself with his "famous" barbecued baby back ribs. John had a keen sense of humor and always had a quick-witted joke. He was an avid fan of WWE wrestling; as far as he was concerned, that was the only real sport. He also loved all music, polka music especially, and playing his harmonica. John was very proud of his large family and the closeness they all share. He was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Wolf; sisters, Johanna Holmes and Christina Matthern; daughter, Lori Ann Wolf Bridgwater; and wife, Julene "Jo" Wolf.
