Col. Daniel Elihue Hungerford (14 Apr 1821 - 20 Jul 1896) was a veteran of the War with Mexico, the Civil War, Indian uprisings, an abortive attempt to influence Mexican politics in the mid-1860s, and was the Vice President of the New York, Texas & Mexican Railroad. Toward the end of his life he lived in Italy and toured most of Europe.
