Information from Mariana Doxley They arrived in New York on April 13,1884. After arriving 2 of the children died in one week. One daughter, Madeline, born Feb. 23,1883 in Russia married Steve Stumpp from Connecticut. The never had children. I always though she was Marianna's daughter but I'm not 100% sure.
It could be Magdalena Dietz is not the correct First wife as another has suggested it was someone else but my dad always said his mothers name was Magdalena Dietz although he was only 1 or 2 yrs old at the time so someone else had to tell him that. Also gravestone and obituary spelled last name MEIER but Death CERTIFICATE had it spelled MAIER but the NORTH DAKOTA DEATH INDEX spells it MEIER Joseph Height in his book spelled original settler in Elsass, Ukraine Georg MAIER, I chose to use the MAIER spelling even though most Maier/Meier's from Elsass have spelled it Meier My father told me that when they started going to school in North Dakota, the teachers and the school "americanized" it to MEYER and that was the spelling they became.
